Writing the Hijri and Gregorian Date on a Wedding or Nikah Invitation

Many families prefer the Hijri date for the nikah, the Gregorian for the wedding party, or both together. Here are the steps and some wording.

Writing the Hijri and Gregorian Date on a Wedding or Nikah Invitation

When to use which calendar

  • Hijri: common for the nikah and religious occasions.
  • Gregorian: useful for guests abroad and for bookings.
  • Both together: the clearest for most guests.

Wording

  • Example: “Friday, 26 Jumada al-Awwal 1448 AH, corresponding to 6 November 2026.”
  • Write the day first, then the date, then the time.
  • Mention the time zone if some guests are in another country.

On Davet

  • From the “Occasion & date” button choose Gregorian, Hijri or both.
  • The date appears in the chosen form on the invitation, the countdown and WhatsApp messages.
  • Change the date any time and the result shows on the same link.

Note

Check the Hijri date against an official calendar in your country; it may differ by a day depending on moon sighting.
